Ngala Tented Camp

Ngala Tented Camp is situated in Ngala Private Game Reserve, on 14 700 hectares/36 500 acres of exclusive game-rich Kruger National Park, Northern Province, South Africa. The camp’s spectacular setting is on the banks of the seasonal Timbavati River. Situated only three kilometres (1.9 miles) from Orpen Gate – one of the major gateways into the world-famous Kruger National Park – this elegant safari camp is known internationally for sophisticated tented accommodation in tranquil African bush surrounds.

Rated in numerous prestigious listings such as the US Conde Nast Traveler’s “Hot List”, it is a gracious camp with a contemporary feel and flamboyant styling. Guest areas feature retro pieces from the 50s, 60s and 70s and beautiful timber decks which overlook the seasonal riverbed.

Six deluxe spacious tents feature outdoor showers, baths, twin hand basins, separate W.C., overhead fans, air conditioning, electric blankets for winter, and wooden decks. Giant shade trees form a green and cool canopy over the camp. Guest areas overlook the seasonal Timbavati riverbed. The inviting lap pool, merging with the contours of the riverbank, is an ideal “waterhole” for guests to cool off. Open fireplaces and viewing decks overlook the riverbed. There is a small Safari Shop.

Twice-daily game drives in open safari vehicles and nature walks on the reserve are included in the rate. The excellent game viewing experience is complemented by other activities such as stargazing, bird watching and moonlit riverbed dinners and bush sundowners (weather permitting). Private lunch platters of delicious Pan-African cuisine can be enjoyed on the viewing decks or at the poolside. Exciting bush banquets in spectacular wilderness settings and theatrical alfresco dinners in the dry riverbed are an unforgettable experience.

Getting to Ngala from Johannesburg is relatively painless with a number of options including flights right to the vicinity of the Lodge!

News

Well, those who will be visiting Botswana's Okavango Delta in the next few months are in for a treat! Every year this magnificent wonderland gets inundated by flood waters originating from the highlands of Angola. The waters arrive at the top or "panhandle" of the Delta in about January and get to the "end" of the Delta in June or so.
