Experienced horse riders can now revel in the ultimate African adventure ~ exploring the vast wilderness of the Okavango Delta from horseback.
Key highlights are...
- Great visibility
- Close up game viewing
- Other activities for non riders
- No vehicle noise
You can ride with a herd of giraffe or zebra across the plains, track elephant or buffalo from island to island, canter and splash through the lagoons of the delta with lechwe or simply watch the setting sun whilst listening to the calls of lion and hyena.
Qualified guides will lead you on your horseback safari, sharing with you their intimate knowledge of the wilderness. You learn how the Delta’s life-giving waters spill into the sands of the Kalahari changing the landscape from endless seas of grass into sparkling water meadows attracting herds of game.
Imagine yourself mounted high above the long grass and reeds watching great herds of zebra, wildebeest and lechwe as they move across golden floodplains and the breathtaking excitement when your silent progress along game trails used only by the animals brings you upon a herd of buffalo or a family group of elephant.
You can also take game and night drives, walk with a guide or go out in a boat or in canoes in the flood season. You will need to feel confident about keeping up with the group, capable of riding at all paces; rising to the trot and controlling your horse at the canter. You may be required to gallop out of trouble and beginners are thereforel not able to take part.
If you never had reason to become an adept rider before, a horseback safari is it.
