Safari & Island Odyssey

Day 1, 2, 3

Our representative will meet you at Johannesburg International, assist you with the formalities and ensure you have all your vouchers for onward travel. After your domestic flight to Hoedspruit, the game-rich eastern part of South Africa, you will be met by a representative from Garonga Safari Camp for the transfer to Garonga.

Garonga Safari Camp is an exclusive 14-bed camp in the greater Makalali Conservancy west of the Kruger National Park. This unassuming sanctuary promises a more intimate wildlife encounter in an unhurried environment - somewhere you can unwind, sleep deeply and be yourself.

It is one of the finest wedding venues and honeymoon destinations in South Africa.

Situated on a dry riverbed, the tented rooms are spacious, with large, draped beds and a wooden deck that commands spectacular views.

An open-air shower flows outwards from the luxury of the room, providing a continuous link to nature. (An indoor shower is provided for the more conventional bather!) Garonga's holistic philosophy offers a safari for the soul, a time to reflect and find inspiration in nature. You can either participate in every activity on offer, or you can simply do nothing at all - lazing in the hammock with a good book while watching the grazing impala.

Activities include game drives, walks, sleep-outs, outdoor bush-baths, and aromatherapy and reflexology sessions. These activities facilitate close encounters with the animals, and thereby enhance your safari experience.

Rates include: All meals, teas & coffees, Game drives, bush walks, sleep-out excursions, bush bath, soft drinks, house wines, local beers and spirits, and laundry.

Day 4, 5

After an early morning activity, drive to the exclusive Nottens Bush Camp within the world famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve. It has been run by the Notten family for the past 20 years and pulses with the beat of Africa.

Each private suite is elegantly styled, spacious, and cooled by ceiling fans. A magical atmosphere is created with the deliberate absence of electricity, with ambient candlelight and lanterns creating an enchanting spirit of romance.

The rooms are all en-suite, with mosquito netting on doors and windows, and magical private viewing decks.

Guests can view the prolific wildlife by open-top Land Rover safaris, led by experienced rangers. Daily bush walks are available, and lazy hours at the sparkling pool are a must. Notten's prides itself on providing a phenomenal wildlife experience.

The mystical sounds of the African night sets the perfect mood for dining in the captivating candlelit boma, beneath a canopy of stars.

The massage deck is an idyllic, peaceful setting for relaxing therapeutic treatments. Other facilities include the indoor lounge with a large fire place, bar and wine cellar.

Boundless hospitality is the hallmark of Notten's, and the reason why visitors return again and again to the fine combination of peace, romance, and a touch of decadence.

At sunrise, the day's excitement begins with a game drive and, with luck, a glimpse of the 'Big Five'.

Upon return, you'll be hungry enough to appreciate a hearty traditional bush breakfast. Thereafter, you choose from an array of activities, including daily walks, restful hours relaxing at the sparkling pool, delicious meals, deep relaxation and massages, before heading out on an evening game drive to enjoy the fresh air and soak up the beautiful sunset.

Nightfall provides the perfect opportunity to see an abundance of secretive nocturnal creatures. After dinner in the boma, a soothing aromatic bath is ideal to round off the day's activities.

Rates are fully inclusive of three meals, accommodation, two game drives and a bush walk per day.

Day 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

One final dawn game drive, a quick breakfast, and you will be transferred to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport for your flight to Vilanculos and Benguerra Island.

Marlin Lodge can be found on the southwest shore of Benguerra Island, the second largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago off the coast of Mozambique. This unspoilt area offers some of the finest scuba diving sites and some of the best deep-sea fishing in the world.

The lodge comprises 17 chalets - all designed with reed-clad brick walls, paved decks and thatched roofs.

Amenities include en-suite bathroom, shower, roof fan, air-conditioning, four-poster bed with mosquito netting, his and hers basins, vanity area, inside & outside showers, open plan bathroom, private lounge, private veranda with deck chairs, mini bar, 2 seating lounges, and a private walkway to the beach.

The lodge also offers a swimming pool, beautiful recreation areas and a friendly atmosphere where guests can choose to be as involved in activities, or as secluded and private as they want. This makes Marlin ideal for both families travelling together, as well as honeymoon couples looking for a few days' escape.

Wonderful palm trees set in indigenous gardens surround the whole lodge, and the sea views are magnificent.

The water temperature ranges between 23°C and 26°C. This makes scuba diving and snorkelling, combined with a picnic lunch on one of the many beautiful island beach locations, very popular.

Other activities include ocean-ski paddling, windsurfing, hobie cat sailing and island drives.

Dinners are either served in the main dining area or on the beach in front of the lodge, where a wonderful selection of seafood is prepared over open fires.

Fully inclusive rates include Mozambican sales tax, accommodation, three meals per day, teas and coffees, as well as the following water sports: windsurfing, ocean ski paddling, power kite flying & catamaran sailing.

A 5 night stay also entitles visitors to: a complimentary Mozambique dhow sunset cruise and a complimentary Benguerra Island drive tour in a Land Rover. Explore some of the local homes, see the fresh water lakes and hike the towering dunes.

News

Well, those who will be visiting Botswana's Okavango Delta in the next few months are in for a treat! Every year this magnificent wonderland gets inundated by flood waters originating from the highlands of Angola. The waters arrive at the top or "panhandle" of the Delta in about January and get to the "end" of the Delta in June or so.
