Arrive at Maun Airport, the 'Gateway to the Okavango Delta', on your Air Botswana flight from Johannesburg. This will be your rendezvous with the pilot who will whisk you off to Stanley's Camp, in an approximate flying time of 10 minutes.
On arrival at Stanley's Camp private airstrip, you will be met by your guide and transferred to the lodge in open 4x4 vehicles. The staff of Stanley's Camp will welcome you with cheerful, traditional songs.
With some of the world's largest National Parks and vast unspoilt landscapes, Botswana is a wildlife paradise just waiting to be discovered. The Okavango, the world's largest inland delta, the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, and the National Park cover an area roughly the size of Portugal.
The Chobe National Park boasts the world's highest concentration of elephant, and the Central Kalahari is home to the nomadic San People and the majestic black-maned lions.
The Okavango Delta: Jewel of the Kalahari! In an amphitheatre of ebony and sausage trees on the southern tip of Chief's Island, Stanley's Camp sits amidst 260 000 acres of untamed and untrammelled African Bush.
Bordering the southern section of the famous Moremi Game Reserve, this private concession is located by definition in the seasonal Delta. Game viewing in the area is abundant with excellent numbers of predators and plains-game on offer.
The area houses one of the largest buffalo populations in the Okavango Delta. In the dry season, the population can concentrate into a herd in excess of 2000 head!
Exciting activities at Stanley's Camp include gentle balloon safaris over the Okavango Delta (weather permitting) as an optional extra; unique elephant interaction with a semi-habituated herd; guided walking safaris, mokoro excursions (water permitting) and stirring night drives. Please note that the Elephant Activity is included in the package price.
Stanley's is a small luxury camp consisting of 8 classic-styled safari tents raised on wooden decking. The elegantly appointed tents exude classic Africa; hand crafted beds dressed with the finest linen, antique furniture individually selected and oriental carpets that give a delightful glimpse of colonial Africa. Antique paddle fans provide respite from summer heat.
Each accommodation unit offers en-suite facilities and a private balcony featuring a hammock. Electricity is supplied by a combination of silent packed generator and battery system, allowing a 24-hour power supply.
After a short time to freshen-up in the comfort of your room, your guide will take you on a discovery adventure of Stanley's private concession. Game drives at Stanley's Camp are conducted in open vehicles that offer unobstructed views. The accompanying professional guides are amongst the best in Botswana.
A hearty dinner awaits your return to camp in the early evening.
The African sunrise will accompany your wake up call, with fresh tea/coffee and biscuits served in your room, followed by a morning game drive or an elephant experience. Walk with these wonderful, intelligent creatures and experience this unique view of some of the wildlife and the behaviour of one of the most intelligent mammals. Return to camp after the morning game activity for a hearty brunch.
The afternoon you are at your leisure to enjoy the facilities on offer. (We recommend you try relaxing by the rimflow pool!)
Mid-afternoon high tea will be served prior to your next game drive, which may extend into a night drive should you wish.
Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Another early morning wake up call with fresh tea/coffee and biscuits served in your room. Perhaps experience a walk or short game drive, followed by breakfast. The day is yours until middle - late afternoon, when you will take part in another activity.
Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Spend three nights at Stanley's Camp in the Okavango on a fully inclusive basis. This includes all activities, all meals, refreshments, laundry and emergency medical evacuation.
One last early-morning activity will precede your light aircraft flight to Kasane in the north-eastern tip of Botswana. Here you are met and transferred by staff to Muchenje Safari Lodge.
Muchenje Safari Lodge overlooks the Chobe River and floodplain with views that extend between 30-35 kilometres. The lodge is in the Chobe Enclave (Chobe Forest Reserve) just 2 km from the unfenced Western boundary of the Chobe National Park.
Access to the Lodge is from Kasane in Northern Botswana and only 45 minutes by air-conditioned Kombi from Kasane Airport along a new tar road through the Chobe National Park to Ngoma, the entrance to the Western Chobe.
The ten twin-bedded thatched chalets, all with en-suite facilities, are sited on the escarpment edge, each with their own balcony and unique view. Each chalet is exquisitely furnished and great care has been taken to create a true African 'ambience'.
Livingstone (Zambian side of the Victoria Falls) is a simple two-hour drive from Muchenje and Ngoma along fine tarred roads. Muchenje is the only safari lodge at the Western end of the Chobe as no other developments are allowed within the Chobe Enclave at Western Chobe. This Safari Lodge thus has virtually exclusive access to the Western Chobe.
Muchenje's game vehicles do the bulk of the work in the area, keeping game viewing both productive and truly exclusive. This contrasts the Eastern Chobe where four large hotels and seven lodges have access to the extremely busy Eastern side of the park.
Other animals to be seen around Muchenje and the Western Chobe are
The bird life around Muchenje Safari Lodge and the Chobe River is fantastic. From Pel's Fishing Owl to Fish Eagles; from Lappet-faced vultures to Marabou storks; from ducks and geese to Secretary birds; from Bataleur Eagles to Augur Buzzards; from Carmine Bee Eaters to Lilac Breasted Rollers; too many to name. There are over 300 different birds in the area, many of these close to the Lodge itself, which attracts many bird watchers specifically to this area and to Muchenje.
Activities are very flexible. Guests can choose from:-
Spend three nights at Muchenje on a fully inclusive basis. This includes all activities, all meals, Park Fees, transfers to and from Kasane, laundry and taxes.
Dependant upon available time, you may be able to do a short morning game drive, followed by a light breakfast, before you are transferred to Stanley Safari Lodge near Livingstone.
Each of the seven luxury cottages is individually designed and decorated with local materials.
The open-sided design affords a unique view across the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park to the mighty Zambezi River and the Victoria Falls - one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
The main house provides the setting for French style cuisine; alternatively dine under the stars on the lawn, or in the privacy of your own cottage, whilst enjoying the personal service of the Zambian staff, all with an in-depth knowledge of Livingstone and its environs.
Spend your days enjoying the Victoria Falls area, or by the pool spotting elephants at the nearby watering hole.
Evenings can be spent sampling wine from the lodge's cellars or unwinding by the hearth.
During your stay you may want to enjoy an adventure such as white water rafting, bunji jumping, elephant back riding or a microlight flight over the falls.
Your stay at Stanley Safari Lodge is on a fully inclusive basis in an open sided suite with its own plunge pool, which includes all meals, local drinks, house wines (not premium wines, champagne and liqueurs), laundry service and Livingstone Airport transfers.

Well, those who will be visiting Botswana's Okavango Delta in the next few months are in for a treat! Every year this magnificent wonderland gets inundated by flood waters originating from the highlands of Angola. The waters arrive at the top or "panhandle" of the Delta in about January and get to the "end" of the Delta in June or so.
